Four generations of Guyanese enterprise

Our philosophy

The A+ standard for Guyanese enterprise

Every ZARC venture starts from three convictions: the imagination to see what an opportunity can become, the determination to see it through, and respect — for our partners, our people, our communities and the land we work on. Whether we are mining gold, cultivating rice, insuring a business or developing property, we bring Guyanese craftsmanship, precision and reliability to every detail.

We build businesses that are modern, well run and made to last: designed to create value for the people who work with us, and to hold that value for the people who invest with us. Across every sector we hold ourselves to international standards, so partners can count on operations that are safe, efficient and ready for the future.

That is what A+ means to us: international standards, delivered in Guyana, by people who call Guyana home. Together with our partners, we build ventures that inspire confidence today and sustain Guyana’s growth tomorrow.

How we work

The ZARC value chain

We don’t do everything ourselves. We bring together the right partners and contractors — and stay accountable from the first idea to long after delivery.

Building responsibly

Our ESG commitment

True progress is measured not only by business success, but by what we leave behind. In 2024 we launched sustainability initiatives across the group to reduce our environmental impact — and we hold every venture to the same three commitments.

E

Environment

Responsible gold mining that minimises its footprint, sustainable rice cultivation, and long-lasting investments across every sector.

S

Social

Investing in Guyanese talent — from Cataleya’s business management training to CIC Guyana’s focus on local professionals — and working hand in hand with local communities and farmers.

G

Governance

Four generations of family stewardship, long-term partnerships with established international companies, and Standard, Safety & Service as our guiding principle.

Our legacy

Four generations of Guyanese enterprise

Our journey is rooted in a strong family legacy — from a store in Buxton and rice cultivation to gold mining, energy and real estate.

  1. 1870s

Florencio Pereira, our great-grandfather, immigrated from Madeira, Portugal. This marked the beginning of the family business, laying the foundation for future generations.

  2. 1978

Patrick, Ryan’s father, entered the gold and diamond mining business, expanding the family’s entrepreneurial endeavours into new territories.

  3. 2012

ZARC entered the oil and gas industry, marking a significant expansion and diversification of the company’s operations.

  4. 2020

ZARC underwent a rebranding, evolving to better represent its core values and commitment to safety, security and service.
